Amazing Grace – July 29th

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace!
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost,
but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught
my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did
that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers,
toils and snares,
I have already come;
‘Tis grace hath brought
me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised
good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield
and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess,
within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
The world shall soon
dissolve like snow,
The sun refuse to shine;
But God, who called me
here below,
Shall be forever mine.
When we’ve been there
ten thousand years,
Bright shinning as the sun,
We’ve no less days to
sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
-John Newton
Today is my 30th birthday and while the society would have you to believe this day (my birthday) should be “all about me”, I believe otherwise…
Today will be filled with love, laughter, gifts and cupcakes from the people I love most in this world, my husband and my boys. My family will make today such a special day for me and their loving kindness will reiterate just how blessed I am.
But today nor any day should ever be about me or you but about Him. About the One who “…so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God loved us so much that he gave us the most precious gift, His only Son (Jesus) to die and to raise from the grave so that we could spend eternity in heaven. All we have to do is have believe. I could not imagine watching one of my sons getting beat, spit upon, tortured, nailed onto a cross, and dying for someone else’s wrongdoings but God did, and Jesus did die for me and for YOU!
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
There is absolutely nothing you can do except repent and believe that will get you to heaven.
“That if though shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9
“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Ecclesiastes 7:20
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Romans 3:10
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
We are all sinners and we all deserve nothing less then to spend eternity in hell and I am thankful for the best gift I have ever received…God’s Grace.
God’s Grace is Sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:8-9)
God’s Grace is given to us in Abundance (2 Peter 1:2)
God’s Grace is AMAZING!
Today I am spending my 30th birthday thankful for God’s Amazing Grace that saved a wretch like me!
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
freely bestowed on all who believe;
you that are longing to see his face,
will you this moment his grace receive?
Marvelous grace
of our loving Lord,
grace that exceeds
our sin and our guilt,
yonder on Calvary’s
mount out-poured,
there where the blood
of the Lamb was spilt.
Dark is the stain
that we cannot hide,
what can avail
to wash it away!
Look! there is flowing
a crimson tide;
whiter than snow
you may be today.
Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
freely bestowed
on all who believe;
you that are longing
to see his face,
will you this moment
his grace receive?
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
grace that will pardon
and cleanse within;
grace, grace, God’s grace,
grace that is greater
than all our sin.
Grace Greater Than Our Sins
